Overwhelmed Much?

July 27th, 2010 by Karla Setchel

Hi Folks,
I hope this note finds you feeling better than usual!  I usually write my blogs on Sunday, it’s Tuesday and I’m still trying to catch up.  I had 3 or 4 days that I felt stronger and less pain than usual — although I didn’t seem to get as much done for some reason, but I did feel better!  Next weeks blog will be about one of the new techniques that seems to be helping. This blog is about recovering both physically and financially and I’ve been focusing on the financial part of my life this past week which became a bit overwhelming when I received 1025 leads on Sunday night!  Since then I have been developing a script for my downline to use because I can’t call 1025 people in a timely manner!  I’m sure that everyone gets overwhelmed at times in their life, people with the chronic pain and weakness that comes with fibromaylgia and chronic fatigue just get there faster!

So this is it for this weeks blog.  Next week will be about some of the new things I’ve tried that seem to be making an improvement in my physical health.

Have You Tried the Osteoball?

July 19th, 2010 by Karla Setchel

Hey Folks,

I hope you’re having a good week.  It’s great to read blogs that are all nice and cheery, but I’m going to be honest with you and if you have fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue, you’ll understand.  I was going to do a “video blog” but I’m not feeling my best today and I don’t do videos or get my picture taken when I don’t look “my best”.  Such is life with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue — you just never know what the day will be like.  I have stayed on “The Wellness Prescription” diet, but I’ve had more to do than usual this week and I’m just worn out — I imagine you’ve all been there.  I wanted to show you the osteoball, it’s a little bit bigger than I expected but manageable.  I’ve done the 10 exercises that are shown on the ball on two different days without any additional pain.  These are “resistance exercises”, they are the type that are supposed to help strengthen my bones and gently rebuild my atrophied muscles.  It only took 5 seconds of each exercise for my muscles to start burning, so even though they are simple, they definitely work! I think I’m actually going to be able to continue doing this routine without hurting myself ~~ when I have the energy.

My doctor told me to always leave a day between any exercise routine, with FMS/CFS sometimes there’s a lot more than one day between sessions!  I do what I can, but when I have to do anything more than what I usually do in a day, I just don’t have the strength to exercise.  It’s frustrating, and I know that each of you with fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue  have experienced this frustration — wanting to do something that you just don’t have the strength or are in too much pain to do.  It’s Sunday night and I won’t have a “normal” day until Wednesday.  A doctor’s appointment on Monday and the dentist on Tuesday, maybe by Wednesday or Thursday I’ll get to use my Osteoball again!

2nd Experimental “Cheating” on The Wellness Prescription Diet

July 12th, 2010 by Karla Setchel

Hey Folks,
I hope this message finds you doing better than usual.  I’ve been very good about staying on “The Wellness Prescription” diet in an effort to reduce my fibromyalgia pain and exhaustion from chronic fatigue.  The book does say that you can “cheat” (eat some of the inflammation causing no-no foods”) 20 % of the time, which if you read my blog from the last time I did that you, know it didn’t go very well.  This time, I had a really rough day emotionally and I felt I needed some comfort food, so I picked up pizza on the way home from the doctors office.  Pepperoni and Pineapple with pan (thick) crust from Pizza Hut, my favorite!  I’ve started a new prebiotic & detox product that also reduces your hunger so I only ate one piece instead of my usual 2 pieces.  I’m happy to report that this time I didn’t have any immediate side affects.  I didn’t even get sleepy like I usually do when I eat pizza, maybe because I only had one piece, maybe it really was the corn in the corn chips that caused the pain last time or maybe because I’m starting to heal — I’m not sure.  At any rate, it was nice to have a “treat” that didn’t cause additional pain an hour later, or any for that matter.  I know that the people out there who are capable of being more strict with their diet don’t believe that it’s wise to eat store bought Pizza EVER,  but I will probably never be that strict.  In fact, considering my past ability to “stick to any diet”, I’m doing pretty good.

Just the one piece of pizza, then straight back to The Wellness Prescription diet.  I still haven’t noticed any major improvements, but I have a long ways to go to feel “good”.  Hopefully this will be one  of the many things I do or have done that will get me there.   I’m staying on the diet more than 80% of the time, so according to the book I’m doing very well in that respect.  I’m hoping that the new prebiotic/detox that I’m using will also help quicken the healing process.  Only time will tell.
